‘Disruption’ is a term that shouldn’t be confined to the private sector, says Girl Effect CEO.
Farah Ramzan Golant joined a series of high profile speakers at Facebook’s annual Women in Media event in London to talk about the theme ‘Disrupt Yourself’ on 3 November 2017.
Hosted by Nicola Mendelsohn, Facebook’s Vice President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the event saw a range of speakers from Catherine Meyer to Edith Bowman share their stories with Facebook’s senior advertising and marketing clients in the UK on how disrupting the established order can lead to powerful and positive change.
Farah told the 300-strong audience that being a disruptor shouldn’t be confined to the private sector and shared Girl Effect’s mission to create a new normal with and for girls.
“Girl Effect is about leveraging two powerful forces,” says Farah. “The power of brands to drive social change and the power of mobile technology to reach the unreachable.”
Farah highlighted the success of Girl Effect’s culture brands and mobile platform Springster, one of Facebook’s Free Basics top five most visited websites.
