Memwa is 23 year olds and is from Mzimba in the northern region of Malawi. She lives with her parents. Before the pandemic, she went to school and chatted with her friends, as well as doing farming work. She has continued going to the farm but is no longer in school and is not going to church, which she notes as a significant change in her life.

“Yes, things changed compared to the past, most girls were in school but now schools have reopened…but most girls are not going back to school because they are pregnant and are just staying at home. Right now, pregnancy issues have worsened…unlike before. Because of Corona virus, most of girls overstayed at home which compelled them to get pregnant.”
